About Us

The International Advertising Association (IAA) is a unique strategic institution that addresses the common interests of all the disciplines across the full spectrum of marketing communications from advertisers to media companies as well as advertising and interactive agencies, direct marketing firms and even individual practitioners.

The India Chapter of IAA was incorporated as a not-for-profit Company in July 1991. Ten years earlier to this formal incorporation, IC-IAA was present in the form of ‘Association of Persons’. Over the last 35 years, IC-IAA have developed and delivered many innovative programmes and initiatives. Particularly it was behind the advertising self regulation movement in the country, which gave birth to Advertising Standards Council of India. IC-IAA has been in the forefront representing the industry whenever there was perceived impairment for freedom of commercial speech or occasions that could be construed as hindering consumer choice. For instance, it has taken up causes of Tax Deducted Source and Service Tax with the powers that be, when these were first introduced, and brought about clarity and transparency on the subjects.

IC-IAA in the last few years has been seen as the most active industry body that even the global body could not ignore noticing. IC-IAA India was awarded as the Best Chapter in the last two occasions this has been given, in 2010 and 2014.

The initiatives like the Olive Crown Awards, Leadership Awards, and IndIAA Awards have been seen as industry benchmarks where the entire industry participates. IAA also is known for its high profile Debates, Conversations, industry specific seminars and Emerging Agencies Conclave, all seen as both interesting and illuminating.

IC-IAA in 2019 hosted biggest world congress ever held, about 2400 delegates from across the world were present to listen to some of the most respected leaders in advertising globally.

Promoting the critical role and benefits of advertising as a vital force behind all healthy economies and the foundation of diverse, independent media.

Dear Friends,

It is with immense pride and humility that I take up the role of President of the IAA. I am overwhelmed by the honor, and I am reminded of the ancient wisdom that I can see further because I stand on the shoulders of giants. I must first thank the outgoing President for transforming the IAA into such a vibrant institution. This strong foundation will ease my path while also challenging me to be more innovative and enterprising to match the high standards set by my predecessors. During my term, I would like the IAA to focus on three priorities that are critical for India and resonate deeply with the future we aspire to build:

Nandini Dias was the Chief Executive Officer of Lodestar UM and she leads one of most talented and capable teams in the country. She is also part of the global FCB Media board.

Nandini has the distinction of having launched over 400 brands in media and has managed media investments for over 175 clients like Samsung, Johnson and Johnson, Cadburys, Tata, Mahindra, Birla, Amul. She has set up various skilled practices like Brand Experiences, Content, Celebrity management etc. In addition, she has been part of the team identified to set up the creative agency FCB Interface Communications. Nandini has probably won the maximum number of media awards in the country. This year, 2016, she was awarded Agency CEO of the Year by Media Ace Awards.

Nandini also ranks consistently among the "Most influential media people", "Woman Achievers" in all the prestigious industry rankings. In the last Economic Times Brand Equity Survey, she was the highest ranked woman in Advertising & Media in the country. Avinash has been with the group since 2005 and is the CEO of ABP Network since January 2019. Before that he was the Chief Operating Officer of the Group for over 7 years. He steered the transformation of the channel from Star News to ABP News in 2012, along with the rebranding and repositioning in 2020. He has also been at the forefront of promoting Indian regional languages especially on Digital mediums.

Avinash has over 26 years of experience in Media sector. His illustrious professional career includes stint with Indian Express Group and TV Today Group.

He is on the Board of the News Broadcasters Association of India, ABP Creations Pvt. Ltd. and Indian Chapter of International Advertising Association. A true industry specialist, he is a core member of Digital News Publishers Association and a former Director of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation. He is on the Advisory Board of Mobile Marketing Association of India and Amity International Business School. In tune with his commitment to environmental values and out of corporate concern for our imperiled mother planet, he envisioned Mathrubhumi SEED {Student Empowerment for Environmental Development} to impart environmental consciousness to the next generation by sensitising students in nearly 7,000 schools to the green inheritance of our blue planet. This initiative was twice honoured by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers {WAN}.

Under his leadership, as CEO of Mindshare India, the agency developed a record for the most number of new business wins by a single market and created a tradition of external accolades, including a Glass Lion at Cannes, a Grand Prix at WARC and an average of over 250+ external awards per year. Mindshare India was also recognized globally as number 2 in the Gunn report. Neha is the Marketing Director for Platforms and Devices at Google India. She is responsible for Google’s marketing efforts in India across Android, Google Play, Google Assistant, Google for Education and Google’s hardware portfolio. Over her tenure at Google, Neha has launched several projects and campaigns focused on driving the growth of the Internet in the country, including Internet Saathi, a digital literacy program which covered 300,000 villages and impacted over 30 million women across India.

Neha strongly believes that technology can play a transformative role in improving the lives of many and is passionate about creating equal access for everyone. She has been a strong advocate for gender equity and the use of technology to bridge gender gaps. She has spoken about these passion areas at various forums including at the Stanford University and has also been showcased by UN Women in their global #SheInnovates campaign.

Before joining Google, Neha has worked across advertising and media industries with organisations such as Lowe Lintas and Viacom18. She completed her graduation from Lady Shriram College in Delhi and followed it with a post graduation in communications from MICA, Ahmedabad. Mr. Navaneeth, worked in Mindshare, Jakarta, Indonesia as leader of trading between March 2016 and May 2019 before coming back home to The Hindu Group as CEO from June 2019. For him, this represents homecoming: he served this organisation between 1998 and 2006 in a senior position in Advertising and Marketing. Going on to get a diverse media experience in radio, television, media planning and buying, and digital advertising, he brings with him the expertise and hands-on experience to play an effective leadership role in the Company in the face of far-reaching changes and challenges in the media landscape and in an increasingly interconnected digital ecosystem.

Before moving abroad in 2016, Mr. Navaneeth led the programming teams at Sun Tv Network's Kannada and Telugu language channels as vice president from September 2009-2015 . He has also worked with Radio One as station director and head of programming from August 2006-2009.

Mr. Navaneeth, gained varied and useful insights; thanks to working for traditional brands with heritage and enviable lineage, setting up a new business with an entrepreneurial outlook, working with entertainment brands that established market leadership positions in a reasonably short span of time and being part of businesses where the only constant is change. He also used his time to consult a couple of startups in the Food and Beverage space.

In these assignments, he helped manage businesses and teams across Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

Neil is an alumnus of the London Business School, IMD -Lausanne & SPJIMR - Mumbai; he is also a visiting faculty at various business schools in Asia.

Megha has been on the board of IBF (Indian Broadcasting Federation). She served as the Vice President of the International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter from 2016-2018 and as President of IAA - India Chapter (2020-2022). The second woman to hold that position. Currently she is the Immediate Past President of IAA. Megha has been instrumental in launching several marquee projects in the Indian broadcast space. He started his Omnicom journey with Mudra in 2003 as a strategic planner, taking on various responsibilities over the years including that of the Chief Strategy Officer. He helped shape India’s most successful independent advertising agency into an Omnicom-owned integrated marketing communications group. As the CEO of Omnicom Advertising Group (OAG), he brings together the power of three world-class creative networks BBDO, DDB and TBWA in India.

He has overseen globally recognized Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives like The Phyllis Project that builds and develops a community of women leaders; and Open Pride focused on respectful representation in creative work and an inclusive work environment. Building on Omnicom’s reputation as the most effective creative network in the world, Aditya was on the Cannes Creative Effectiveness jury in 2023 and served as jury president for the category at Spikes Asia 2024. Before joining Kellogg India, she has held senior positions at Coca-Cola India, HSBC Bank, Hindustan Unilever and at Novartis (then Hindustan Ciba-Geigy), where she started her career.

She has been listed as Fortune’s most powerful women in business for six consecutive years from 2012 to 2017. She is one of the top 50 most influential women in media and marketing for 2020.
